Cambridge Glass was a manufacturer of glassware formed in 1873 in Cambridge, Ohio. The company produced a range of coloured glassware in the 1920s, initially with opaque shades, but moving on to transparent shades by the end of the decade. Unable to compete with mass-produced glassware, the company closed briefly in 1954, but was reopened in 1955. However, financial difficulties persisted, and, after several ownership changes, the factory closed for good in 1958. They produced all kinds of elegant glass including pressed glass, etched stemware, depression glass, clear glass, colored glass, crystal animals, stained glass and much more.
Glasses and trays are in excellent vintage condition! NO chips, dings or pings to cocktail glasses, but trays do have tiny fleabites on underneath raised rim bases and a few have tiny tiny fleabites on cut of circle where glass sits inside. Overall patina to the silver overlay and could use a light polish to bring back the gorgeous luster and details of these treasures, but we have left that for the new owners. Set has been loved and well taken care of, but for 70+ years age there will be the usual
tiny surface wear from years of helping Beatrice keep the the glam in her cocktail parties alive, but nothing that distracts from this wonderful collection of Cambridge Glass history.
