Cambridge 4 1/2" Crystal Swan Type III ExcellentPrice Reduced!!
The Cambridge Swans were made in a range of sizes from a tiny salt holder up to a punch bowl. This one is the 2nd smallest size. Cambridge changed the molds used to make the swans several times during their long production period. This is the final mold change and was used by Cambridge from 1939 to 1958. Detailed information can be found on the Cambridge Swans in the old Spencer & Garmon book or in the Crystal Ball newsletters published by the Cambridge Collectors Club. The articles can also be found online or I'm happy to try to answer any questions you may have.
The swan is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or other damage.
The swan is 4 1/2" measured from the front of the neck to the end of the tail. This is a genuine Cambridge swan to the best of my knowledge. This size has been reissued by Boyd Glass but those are usually marked with a "B", are usually in color, and were not hand shaped in the same manner used by Cambridge. Cambridge used a flaring tool to spread the bowl after it was removed from the mold, which can be seen in this swan. The Type III 4 1/2" swans were not marked by Cambridge.
