BOOK: Etchings by Cambridge: Volume I by NCC, Inc.

Description

This is for a softbound book dealing with the many etchings produced by the Cambridge Glass Company of Cambridge, OH. The book was released in 2006, and was authored by National Cambridge Collectors' Archivist, Mark Nye. Most of the pictures of etchings were obtained directly from the etching plates themselves. Where a plate was not found for a known pattern, the pattern picture from Cambridge catalogs or advertisements was used.
This volume contains prints representing 249 different etchings. Each etching has information obtained from various sources (catalogs, trade publications and the plates themselves). Where possible, the description indicates the articles on which the etching was used. It also includes dates, when they could be obtained.
NO price guide is included with the book, as it does not deal with individual items, only the etchings themselves. It is an excellent source for one to positively identify an etching on a piece of glass as being a product of the Cambridge Glass Company. The book itself is an example of the efforts of the NCC members to preserve information related to Cambridge and share that information with the glass collecting public.
Proceeds from the sale of the book go directly to support the National Cambridge Collectors.

The National Cambridge Collectors, Inc. is a non-profit Ohio corporation which was founded in 1973 to establish and maintain a permanent museum in Cambridge, Ohio for the display, study and preservation of Cambridge Glass. The museum is pictured at right, and is open April through October on Wednesday through Sunday.
